Pull the Lakeithia up to a kitchen island and the room gets lighter, not busier. A whitewashed frame slim enough to almost disappear, a shaped back you can genuinely lean into, and a seat woven by hand in naturally coloured rope.

A frame that stays out of the way

Slim, round, gently tapered legs in a pale whitewashed finish. Because there is so little visible mass, two or three of these along an island read as one calm line rather than a row of furniture — useful in an open-plan kitchen where the stools are always on show.

A hand-woven rope seat

Natural rope, woven in four triangular sections that meet in the centre of the seat. It has a slight give that flat timber never has, and the undyed cord warms in tone as it ages, so the stool settles into a kitchen rather than staying showroom-new.

A back, not a perch

The curved back panel is shaped to follow your spine and sits at the right height to take your weight. It is the difference between a stool you sit on for a coffee and one you can still be sitting on when breakfast turns into a long conversation.

Somewhere to put your feet

A rail runs across the front and down both sides, so there is a footrest wherever you happen to turn. It also braces the frame — the reason the legs can be this slender in the first place.

Light enough to move with one hand. Solid enough that you never think about it.

Getting the height right

At a 67 cm seat height, the Lakeithia is a counter stool. It is made for a kitchen island or counter of roughly 90–100 cm — the usual gap between seat and worktop is about 25–30 cm, enough room for your knees without your shoulders ending up under the overhang.

Measuring a taller, proper bar at around 110 cm? Go up to a 77 cm seat instead — the Torkil in oak or the Sharnita. Or see every height in bar stools & bar chairs.
